About Your Guide
I have been involved in the sport of bass fishing for the last 27 years. I began by learning from the best when I started fishing with a bass guide on Lake Anna by the name of Bill Mathias. Bill, who taught me the basics of bass fishing, was way ahead of his time back in the early 1980s, and every time a new technique came around, Bill was already doing it. I fished with a BASS Federation club for several years and have fished with many different and excellent anglers through the years. I've also fished many different waters with many different guides, both good and bad. A few years back I had the opportunity to move to one of my favorite bodies of water, Kerr Lake. Since I have been there, I have spent many months fishing and learning the many facets of Kerr Lake. On days when the water levels were down, I have spent hours just riding the lake to find those special areas that attract game fish, and while doing this I have also spent a lot of time finding out the best baits and patterns that work on Kerr Lake. I am in business to pass on the things I have learned to you, the angler. Not only will I put you where the fish are, but I will also teach you how and where to use lures and techniques that you may have only read about.
January 2008
Wow I need to update this more often! My last update was October 2006-time flies. Well, fishing on Kerr continues to be outstanding! Striper fishing has made quite a comeback here on the lake and bass fishing is as good as its ever been. With the new regulations for stripers in effect we are already seeing a drastic improvement in numbers and size. Spring of 2007 was the year of the spinner bait and jig. The water was high and stained most of the spring and it was a flipper and pitchers delight. I look for 2008 to be another great year. I am still running my Ranger Z-20 and loving it! This is the best boat I have ever owned. Reliability, handling and fish ability are three words to describe this wonderful piece of equipment. I also continue my association with Ken Penrods Life Outdoors Unlimited Guides Inc. If your looking for a fun trip on the Tidal Potomac or an awesome trip on the Susqhuenna River in Harrisburg PA click on the link below for more information. I will be traveling up there in March to try my hand at Smallmouth fishing. I also continue my association with the Little Retreat Lodges on Kerr Lake and if your looking for a quite out of the way lodging on Kerr Lake click on the link for more information. After a year long hiatus I will continue with my monthly reports in Sportsmans Magazine-look for them at most tackle stores in Virginia. I am proud to be one of the newest members of the Grandt Rods Pro-staff. My clients are now being treated to using the finest graphite rod on the market today. All of Grandt Rods blanks are made in the U.S.A. featuring titanium ring guides with black chrome finish to hold up to the use of braided lines. The company offers many different models featuring 58-78 million modulus material. There rods can handle any technique or bait out there today and the sensitivity is amazing! I have had nothing but positive feedback from my clients about these rods. I believe in using and providing the best equipment out there for my clients as well as myself. At the end of the day if your interested in purchasing a Grandt Rod just ask me for a catalog. Well I hope you all have a great year fishing and I thank you for taking the time to look at my website. So-give me a call and lets go fishing!-Tim

About Kerr Lake
Kerr Lake is a 49,000 acre flood control lake built by the the Army Corp of Engineers in 1953. It has over 800 miles of shoreline and the water levels fluctuate as much as 10 feet in any given year. Kerr lake is nationally known for its crappie, bass and striper fishing. It is one of the few lakes that striped bass can reproduce naturally . It is also becoming known for its large blue and flathead catfish.
| Largemouth Bass - The premiere sport fish of Kerr Lake. Many national tournaments are held here because of the large bass population in Kerr. The fishing in spring and summer can be phenomenal. Since I fish for bass about 70% of the time, I can show you in one day what might take you a whole season to learn on Kerr Lake. |

| Striped Bass - This is the big game fish of freshwater. The best seasons for them are spring, fall and winter. I specialize in fishing live bait (blueback herring and gizzard shad), but I also fish bucktails and topwater baits for these fish in the winter. I will show you how to catch and keep shad and herring alive and how to best present them for the most action. |

|
| Crappie - The family fun fish! Everyone can catch crappie here on Kerr Lake. Kerr is known as the best crappie lake in Virginia and one of the top three in the country. The best seasons are spring and fall. For crappie I fish live minnows as well as artificials. |
