ULTRASOUND IMAGING

Ultrasound Machine Ultrasound (sonography) is a state-of-the-art technology which images internal organs of veterinary patient's in a comfortable, non-invasive fashion. This diagnostic system utilizes sound waves to detect and digitally reconstruct the examined organ for viewing. It is particularly useful for analyzing the kidneys, urinary bladder, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, intenstinal tract, and the reproductive system.

The patient's organs can be measured in size, shape, and consistency to determine if a diseased state exists. The ultrasound can be used to guide biopsy equipment to the suspected problem organ for tissue sampling, avoiding the need for invasive exploratory surgery.

Another use of ultrasound is examination of the heart in motion. This is termed echocardiography. An echocardiogram is essentially a real-time movie of the heart as it beats. The chambers and valves can be analyzed and measured, and blood flow directions can be viewed. This is particularly beneficial in diagnosing valve problems, congestive heart failure, and diseases of the heart muscle common to animals.

Clarksville Veterinary Clinic is committed to providing the best diagnostic equipment for its patients. Ultrasound is part of a complete diagnostic armamentarium in a quality veterinary facility. Most importantly, it expedites evaluation of organs for a more accurate diagnosis. Patients can then be treated promptly, enabling a quicker recovery from illness.
