Kerr Lake Sailing Club sails out of Steele Creek Marina in Townsville, NC. The club is a more or less informal, relaxed, racing club for people with boats that are generally over 22'. Anyone that's looking for fun racing is welcome.
The club is organized by Brant Sprunger and has about a dozen members or so. Brant can be reached at 919-603-9711. Racing is generally once a month on a Saturday or a Sunday. There are Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer series and an annual long distance race in October called theBluenose which can be as long as 42 NM. There are occasional social events too, but we'd rather socialize on the water!
We recently decided to include one out and back race during each series. The intention is to add some variety rather than always doing the usual around-the-bouys format. The quarterly out and back races will be much shorter than the annual Bluenose. The around-the-bouys courses utilize the government navigational markers and vary depending on the wind conditions.
