ETD 5am (I'm sure my brother can get up early to take me to the airport).  That will put me in Hawaii at 6pm with a gain of 2 hours.

This is the first big leg over water and the only one with limited options; i.e. no islands between the California coast and Hawaii.  I will have all the safety and redundancy equipment on board in addition to 2700 nm range.  It is described by those who have already done this trip as 13 hours of smooth flying and 2 hours of bumps.
