| The Clarksville Community Players was formed in June, 1973, as an outlet for anyone wishing to participate in any facet of the dramatic arts and to provide theatrical entertainment for the community. The group is chartered as a non-profit organization with four officers and three directors. |
Performing mostly in the Clarksville Fine Arts Center, the Players usually produce two plays per year -- one in the Spring (often a musical) and one in the Fall (mostly a non-musical). The group also offers performances through its Guest Artist Series, where a variety of artists will showcase their talents. During the Summer, a Children's Theatre Workshop is held to teach all aspects of theatre to children (technical theatre, acting, scene construction, etc.). |
The Players have strong support from the community from a successful Patrons Program, through which people contribute to allow theatre to continue in the area. Also, the Town of Clarksville continues its gracious supporting role. The Players gratefully acknowledge partial funding by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. |
