About Me:

I work full time as a registered nurse case manager and am the mother of two sons. My husband and I adopted the boys in 1988 from South Korea. They were 4 and 5 years old at the time and are biological brothers. Where have the years gone!! I also have some four-legged furry "children" - currently three cats and one dog. They're so much fun and company.

As long as I can remember, I've made things by hand. I have always gravitated toward fiber and paint. I love hooked rugs and watercolor paintings but the finished products are very expensive to purchase. So, how to get what I want when I can't afford to purchase them?? The answer - make them myself! Of course, as anyone involved in crafts knows, I could have purchased many finished rugs and / or paintings with the cost of the supplies over the years. But, I would have been denied all the fun!

As a child, I remember knitting a garter stitch scarf with variegated acrylic yarn. The scarf was huge! Wide and long and the sides were totally uneven! I also enjoyed counted cross-stitch when Jenny Thompson returned to Pawley's Island from Denmark with just several little patterns. I stitched those same patterns all summer to the song of my mother telling me to go outside and play.

Along my fiber journey, I learned to tat, crochet, needlepoint, do crewel, make twined rugs, quilt, and weave. I became a certified Pearl McGown traditional rug hooking instructor and enjoyed teaching rug hooking and dyeing classes. I also operated a rug hooking business and operated rug camps in Virginia and North Carolina. I still have a rug workshop annually in Clarksville, Virginia. Due to my life and work schedules, I returned to knitting and spinning in 2005 in a big way and am just passionate about both.

One of the best things about what I've learned and done in the fiber / painting world are all the people I've met along the way. They include some of the most wonderful, talented, encouraging, motivating, creative, and imaginative people. My life has definitely been enriched.
